Young Yentas on Awkward Relationships

Dear Young Yentas,  

About four weeks ago I got a new job. One of my supervisors is a very attractive 19 year old girl who flirted with me ever since I started. Since I’m 22, I don’t find it ok for me to date her. Except the other night, we were both closing and she kissed me. Then, two nights later she came over to my house at 11:30 p.m. for some booty.

Since then, when I try to act appropriate at work, she gets mad at me. The sex is great, but I feel like I can’t end this without my boss getting mad at me or jeopardizing my job. Should I just cave in and start to date and sexually interact with my supervisor? Read more »

False Connections: the Dangers of Social Media

Social media is a category of Internet websites that we use every day. These sites lead us to contacting old friends, help us to connect with people from all over the globe, and allow a worldwide exchange of ideas, opinions, and facts. Yet these sites have negatively influenced us. For example, people say rude things to others that they wouldn’t be willing to say to their face, people lie about themselves, and people use work that isn’t their own. Who Are the Facebook Fakers?

Who are Aaliyah Julia and Alyssa Cockrell? They have Facebook friended many at AJU, yet no one at this small school seems to know who they are.

Alyssa Cockrell’s Facebook profile has vanished as of February 17th; however at one point the profile with the picture of a masked girl was up to 60 friends, more than 50 of whom are connected with AJU. As of January 24th, Aaliyah Julia has 18 friends, all of whom are current or former AJU students.
